About Dale
My background
My name is Dr. Dale Viox, I do pediatric anesthesia at St. Jude. My whole career has been dedicated to taking care of children. When the opportunity presented itself to run for school board I did not hesitate. I am VERY proud to be a product of public education. I will admit that I underestimated the commitment in time and resources but it carries with it the greatest reward. I can not imagine my life without the school board and this is what drives me to continually educate myself and fight for public education in OUR district. I believe that legislative advocacy is the most important avenue available to protect our public education system from so many organizations that seek to influence and control it for various reasons. As your representative at the Tennessee School Board Association, this is my mission.
My top issues
As an anesthesia provider I fully understand the importance of the whole child approach. My focus for years has been the health of children. Without the necessities of proper nutrition, exercise, and mental health it is difficult to learn. We need to balance those for each individual child and then push them to their highest potential.
My involvement
For the last 10 years I was involved in the planning, assessment, and ultimately the creation of the Arlington Community School district. I have never been more proud of any of my achievements. Public education was my key to breaking the cycle of poverty and I am proud to say I am a first generation college graduate. I have several advanced degrees that would not have been possible without the foundation of my public education. I want the same opportunities for every student in the district.
