This photo was taken with Mark Norris who was instrumental in the legislative process to get our districts started.  The creation of a municipal district in the State of Tennessee had not been done in almost forty years.  It was a monumental task that many said we could not accomplish. We did it and did not stop there, we excelled within the State and continue to be a shining example of bringing the local control of school boards back to the municipalities.

First a disclaimer, none of this fluff/awards have any merit without the teachers, administrators, and district office personnel.  They are the heroes and deserve ALL the accolades.  Unfortunately, people want to know what Dale has done with his nearly nine years on the board so this is necessary.  PLEASE know that this is only because of them that this list even exists.   Dale is very proud of his accomplishments but he insists that they are only a reflection of the work done at the student level by the real stars of this district.

When elected to the school board, there are basically two paths to take, you can show up for meetings and do the minimum to keep people happy or satisfied that you are a leader; or you can do everything and anything that you can to educate yourself and be the best advocate for public education.  Dale does nothing halfway and he chose the latter.  Some accomplishments in addition to the monumental task of leading the creation of this district from scratch are:

Unanimously elected as inaugural chairman to establish and lead this district

Selected as the chairman of ACS board 2016

Selected as ACS vice chairman

Legislative representative for ACS from 2017-2020

Elected to the Other Post Employment Benefits Trust (OPEB) Board of Directors 2014-Current

Chose as OPEB trust chairman 2019-current

Awarded Level 5 master school board designation (the highest achievable level)

Selected to be on the Tennessee School Board Association Board of Directors 2018 & 2019

Selected to receive the C. Hal Henard award for distinguished service 2019

Selected as the Tennessee School Board member of the year 2019 (out of almost 1200 board members)

Selected as the 2019 Chairman of the all Tennessee school board

Selected as the Tennessee School Board Association treasurer and chairman of the finance committee 2020

Selected as the vice chairman of the Tennessee School Board Association 2021
